Deer Park Action Group Logo Design

When campaigners for the Deer Park Action Group called on us for signatures for their petition, we offered our services to help support a worth cause. The Deer Park Action Group has been set up to protect the Deer Park in Old Catton, Norwich from construction development. We had already signed up the the Facebook page so we could keep up to date on the news on the Old Catton landmark.

Kathy Branson, the chairwoman of the Deer Park Action Group got in contact a few days later asking if we could help out with a logo for all their platforms both digital and printed. We jumped at the task working from a quick sketch Kathy and sent over. Our early concept had a silhouette of the recently born foal with its distinctive white nose markings. The feedback came through from the group to replace the horse with a deer and add in a few birds for good measure and to establish the extent of the nature that calls the park home. A couple of changes later and the logo was finalised. We’re looking forward to see our logo popping up all over Old Catton in the coming weeks.

EV charging for the greener clients

For the greener of our clients COG media now offers EV charging

Over the weekend we had our electrics updated and an EV charging point installed. Ahead of us getting our own electric vehicle COG media has taken advantage of the electric car charger grant before it runs out at the end of March 2022 and had an EV charging point installed. Having done our research and taking advice from our client Critten Electrical we went with the HyperVolt charging unit. Nothing to do with the fact it has massive lightning bolt on the front and lighting modes you can play about with… honest. With the cost of petrol and diesel going through the roof and lemmings panic buying at the drop of a hat we felt it was time to upgrade.

With a couple of our clients already running electric cars and looking to upgrade in the near future it made sense for us to add a charging point.

Clients will have access to our charger free of charge with members of the public able to request a slot the the ZAP map app.

Norwich Design Studio Workspace open after Covid

Our Norwich design studio workspace is now open for clients to visit after the relaxing of all the covid restrictions.

We’re looking forward to having clients sit in with again in our newly updated work space. Taking advantage of the restrictions during the Covid lockdown our design studio was overhauled to with in an inch of it life. Networking, coms, hardware and software was all upgraded to allow us to bring you the best of design results.

Stripped back

Taking advantage of other work going on in the building it was the perfect time to run all the cables (and a few spear for good measure) Data cables were run throughout allow hardware to be deployed wherever needed. More plug sockets were installed than the average house. A massive thank you goes out to Critten Electrical for advising and wiring up. All the surround sound wires were hidden away and sockets installed for easy installation.

Covid stopped play

Covid hitting hard in early 2020 put the kibosh on wall building work going ahead… time to learn a new trade. Jumping online and tracking down sound barrier plasterboard and all the bits to put it up with I turned my had to labouring… and I enjoyed it. The plasterboard went up quickly and as most of the sockets were going into hollow walls cutting them in was a breeze. The special tool (or bread knife as everyone else calls it) made short work of the cleaning up of the edges. Nigel’s labelling of the cables made it an easy job to get all the wires going to the right places ready for his second fix as we call it in the trade. I even learnt to keep a pencil behind me ear, although I drew the line at drinking tea.

Time to get plastered

The only I… I mean Teresa wasn’t happy with me doing was the plastering. So with a referral from a good friend Aaron was booked up to get me plastered. Drying time seemed to take ages but soon the walls were ready to a few coats of paint. Painting done and business starting to pick up we got Callum back from another building project to put the floor down in the studio and entrance.

Upgrade time

Whilst all this was going on the studio hardware was overdue an upgrade. New design and editing suite was spec’ed and built. A 32 processor Intel i9 stacked with ram and more video ports you could throw a stick at with two new 4K monitors, a preview HD screen and a spear port I’m sure we’ll find something to plug into it. We did the usual loading up old scenes and do re renders. Frames that took hours to render were now down to seconds…

Not normally a fan of light up cases but configured this one to a COG media teal that got brighter the harder the system is running, all adds to the look, that’s what I’m telling myself.

Ready for business

New desks and drawers where all in place, time to make this a pleasant work environment. Extending our use of Philips Hue and Google Assistant the studio is completely voice controlled. Lighting settings depending on time of day screens, external devices and smart plugs all set with a couple of commands.

Its behind you!

With us all used to video chats and Zoom meeting these days its becoming more important to consider what’s going on behind you, Lets face it it we’ve all seen shots on the news of with embarrassing items in the background or found ourselves studying at the book titles on interviewees libraries. Some goes for our studio. Really must get round to replacing the door to the data cupboard! Fingers crossed the PowerPoint slides running on, yes you guessed it another screen will take your gaze away from it.

The pièce de résistance

The finishing touch to the user / client experience was to get the preview screen as part of the design system so looking over shoulders at 4K screens to preview designs and websites. Mark from Relax Mobility was the first to get the full impact of seeing his new website coming to life… on the big screen.

Recruitment company Vanta Staffing after four years of trading were in the market for a web site update. With content being changed and amended internally and via external agencies the site had become disjointed.

With a second office being opened, new recruitment sectors being added and staffing updates the web site needed new fresh look. With a website development area in place we set about creating a new fresh look based on Vanta’s existing marketing materials. A new colour scheme had been introduced which gave us a great scope for jazzing up every pages look. Time for a new website design

Taking advantage of lockdown, not able to take my Grand Tour through Europe it was new website design time for COG media. Firstly upgrading our WordPress Technology to include the same editor we’ve been using for our clients over the last year. Secondly to take advantage of all the new projects we’ve been working on. New services came online as well adding marketing to our products.

Backup all existing content Drawing on the existing website we backed up all the blogs and pages ready to drop into the new framework. When we revamp existing WordPress websites doing this backup will keep the site structure. This is always good practise to keep Google and other search engines happy. Covid19 support to clients during the pandemic

Who could have guessed the impact Covid19 was going to have when we started to hear about infections in China… Within a few months the whole world was getting to terms with a new way of living and working.

Very quickly a number of our clients were having designs for eshots, flyers and posters produced. One of our largest clients had a whole section added to their website offering advice, guidance and links to their clients. Daily we were adding to their Covid-19 blog, producing social media branded memes and positive messages for the whole group.

After a rushed move from our studio at Avian Way in Norwich and a bit of a restructure COGmedia have moved to our new studio. Now comes the remodelling to get it exactly how we want it.

Time to stop lining the pockets of landlords and create the ideal workspace at home. Cant help thinking home working will be a thing of the future. Lets face it I’ll never be late for work. Never miss a package for the other half… Think I’m going to like this.
